Local San Diego Attractions
The beaches and coastline of San Diego are beautiful and there are numerous other attractions in the area:. The world-class San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Balboa Park, the Old Globe Theater (three stages, including a beautiful outdoor Shakespeare stage), the La Jolla Playhouse, the La Jolla Cove, Seaport Village, and tours of old sailing ships (including the one on which Master and Commander was filmed) and the aircraft carrier USS Midway. You may well want to spend a few extra days here, and if you are traveling with your family, there will be no shortage of things for them to do.
The San Diego Trolley provides inexpensive transportation to Old Town (10 minutes by trolley) downtown San Diego (15 minutes), the harbor district (20 minutes) and even the border crossing into Tijuana, Mexico (about 40 minutes). It can be reached easily from the USD campus and from the Town & Country Hotel.
Incidentally, weather is simply not a problem in July. It never rains at that time of year, and we are near the coast, so temperatures are usually quite nice in the high seventies during the day, mid-sixties in the evening.
